What’s the Story?

A big thank you to all of you who made it down to the Mapping Memories exhibition in Hanbury Hall last month.  It was really exciting for us to see the wall fill with memories and exchange stories of Spitalfields. We have collected over a 100 memories which can be seen here.

But what next?

Well, we are keen to take our mapping memories project to the next level and to match words with images.  We are looking for exciting illustrators, graphic designers and / or artists to visually depict the memories we have received so far.  Each participating artist will be given a memory to represent graphically, and will be encouraged to interpret the memory and tell a story using their particular visual style. We aim to display the illustrations and memories as part of an exhibition located in the Spitalfields area in early 2010.

So, we want to hear from you if are interested in getting involved or if you know of any budding artists who may be interested. Please contact us at onelineonly@mappingmemories.co.uk and let us know if you are keen.

As ever all memories and illustrations collected will be forming the basis of Mapping Memories essay in the second edition of This is Not a Gateway’s Critical Cities.
